Aier Pet Food joins forces with Shanghai Adoption Day to launch the “Aier” New Year Pet Love Campaign, a heartwarming charity initiative that kicks off the year with extra “horsepower.” Together, under the name of “Aier,” we’ll build a warm winter haven for pets.

In China, stray animals represent a widespread problem. This issue arises either because of high population mobility in urban areas and the lack of responsibility among some pet owners, who abandon their pets at will, or because the reproduction of stray animals is not effectively controlled, leading to a continuous increase in their population. Moreover, the imperfections in the social assistance system mean that many stray animals cannot receive timely shelter and care. According to incomplete statistics, by 2025, the national population of stray cats was estimated at about 53 million, while the number of stray dogs was around 40 million.

Winter is the peak season for deaths among stray animals. Low temperatures pose the primary and most lethal threat to stray animals during this season—far more dangerous than most people realize. According to relevant data, approximately 60% of stray cats and dogs meet their end in winter due to freezing to death, starvation, or dehydration. In northern regions, the winter mortality rate for stray cats rises even higher, reaching as much as 63%. Meanwhile, frostbite has become a common injury among stray animals during winter. Among puppies alone, winter cases of frostbite account for as much as 40% of all annual cases. The extremities—such as ears, paws, and tails—have poor blood circulation, making them particularly vulnerable to frostbite. In severe cases, frostbite can lead to tissue necrosis.
The severe shortage of food and water during winter further exacerbates the survival crisis faced by stray animals. In winter, as snow and ice blanket the land, not only are the already scarce food sources obscured, but trash bins also freeze over, causing food to spoil even faster. In cold weather, stray animals require 50% to 100% more calories than usual just to maintain their body temperature, dramatically increasing their food needs—yet finding food becomes exponentially more difficult. The scarcity of water is equally deadly: once natural water sources freeze, stray animals are forced to lick snow and ice to quench their thirst. Once ingested, the icy cold temperatures can easily trigger gastrointestinal inflammation and diarrhea. Given their already weakened physical condition, such illnesses often become the final straw that breaks their backs.
At the start of 2026, Aier Pet Food is joining forces with Shanghai Adoption Day to launch the "Pet 'A' New Year" charity event at Wanda Plaza in Maqiao, Shanghai. This heartwarming and "Horse-Boosting" themed public welfare initiative features a variety of activities, including DIY warm winter shelters with a New Year’s theme and donations of pet food for loving homes. By focusing on the winter survival challenges faced by stray animals, this event aims to inspire the public to pay attention to and care for these animals through concrete actions, infusing the new year with warmth, responsibility, and compassion.

In the New Year-themed DIY cat house workshop, rescuers, adopters, and families with children enthusiastically participated in the event. Under the professional guidance of volunteers, they carefully crafted cozy little shelters for stray animals—shelters that combine warmth and creativity—by cutting, folding, gluing, and reinforcing used fabrics. Thanks to everyone’s highly creative DIY efforts, each little shelter has become a heartwarming “winter sanctuary” brimming with love and care. Coinciding with the festive occasion of New Year’s Day, Aier Pet Food specially set up a calligraphy corner to welcome the spring, inviting participants to write Spring Festival couplets for their DIY cat houses, so that both animals and humans can joyfully greet the new year together.

In addition to the heartwarming DIY interactive activities, Aier Pet Food, as a pet food company, donated a total of 466 jin of loving pet food to Shanghai Adoption Day. These pet foods will be precisely delivered—through Shanghai Adoption Day’s official channels—to stray animal shelters and frontline rescuers, helping to solve the “food supply” challenges faced by homeless animals in need and ensuring they can spend the winter in warmth.

Meanwhile, Aier Pet Food has also launched an online “Kindness Relay” campaign. From December 25, 2025, to January 12, 2026, for every like accumulated online, an additional portion of nutritious food will be donated to stray animals. As of now, this online kindness relay has attracted widespread participation from netizens, enabling charitable goodwill to transcend geographical boundaries and fostering a warm, inclusive atmosphere in which everyone can join in.

At the event, Air Pet Food introduced its 25th-anniversary new product—the Air Pet Food Forest Story Series freeze-dried three-meat blend formula—providing a special treat for cats and dogs waiting to be adopted on-site. Thanks to its scientifically balanced formula featuring 75% fresh meat and 10% freeze-dried ingredients, this freeze-dried three-meat blend perfectly matches pets’ natural carnivorous diet. The specially developed superberry-infused freeze-dried core is packed with extracts from a variety of fruits and vegetables, including blueberries, cranberries, huckleberries, and raspberries, which effectively boost pets’ immune systems. Additionally, the formula includes tailored functional blends designed specifically to address common issues in dogs and cats, such as intestinal problems, tear stains, and coat concerns, offering precise care for your beloved pets. During the event, Air Pet Food distributed sample packs on-site, encouraging more consumers to pay attention to the issue of stray animals and to feed stray pets scientifically, providing them with nutritious food to start the year off right.

Taking this public welfare initiative as an opportunity, Aier Pet Food has not only conveyed its goodwill toward stray animals but has also enabled more people to appreciate the brand’s professional expertise and meticulous craftsmanship in the field of pet nutrition.
Looking ahead to 2026, Aier Pet Food will continue to uphold its corporate social responsibility and take the rescue and protection of stray animals to deeper levels and broader reach. We will keep collaborating with public welfare rescue organizations across the country, expanding the coverage of our charitable pet food donations. At the same time, we will actively promote scientific rescue practices and civilized pet-keeping concepts, and participate in projects related to the development of pet-friendly cities.
